Sarah Papineau is a literacy coach at the district level servicing 18 elementary schools and six middle schools. As a coach in her district, she also continues to have a group of students for part of the day. She learns daily from what her students bring to her so that her coaching with adults is more authentic.
Prior to working at the district level, she was a high school resource teacher and reading teacher for students with disabilities. Sarah holds a license in elementary education (K-6) and endorsements in 5-8 social studies, K-12 reading, autism, and learning disabilities. When she began teaching she realized that she knew nothing about how to teach reading. Because of the need to work on literacy with her students, Papineau went back to school to obtain her reading license. She also received a year of training on the theory behind Reading Recovery.
