MAHRM ADMISSION CRITERIA

MAHRM ADMISSION DETAILS

GENERAL MAHRM REQUIREMENTS

Saint Mary's online Master of Arts in Human Resource Management (MAHRM) program requires the following:

  • An undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • A minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale

If your overall GPA is below 2.75, you may receive provisional status in the program at the discretion of the MAHRM program director.

PREREQUISITE COURSEWORK AND EXPERIENCE

No prerequisite coursework is required for the online MAHRM other than the general requirements listed above.

A background in human resources is not required to be considered for admission. We welcome students who are interested in joining this growing field. You don't need prior work experience or an HR-related bachelor's degree to be accepted.

GMAT AND GRE SCORES

GRE and GMAT scores are not required to apply.

TRANSFER CREDITS

You can transfer a maximum of six credits you've earned before admittance to Saint Mary's.

Transfer credits are subject to graduate school and program criteria, as well as the recommendation of the program director and approval by the dean.

Work experience is not accepted as credit for this program.

Students entering the MAHRM program with either the SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) certification or the SHRM-SCP (Society for Human Resource Management, Senior Certified Professional) certification do not need to take the HRM601 Human Resource Management Strategy course. Certifications must be earned and current prior to the student's admission into the MAHRM program. Students must request the waiver, provide documentation evidencing the date that the certification was earned, and provide their current certification standing. Students receiving the HRM601 waiver will take one more elective course in the program, keeping the 39 total credits requirement.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Students with transcripts from universities located outside of the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada (except for the Quebec Province) are required to take and pass English proficiency testing.

Saint Mary's accepts the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 72, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 6.0, the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) with a minimum score of 74 percent, the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) with a minimum score of 51, or the International Test of English Proficiency (ITEP) with a minimum score of 4.0.
