Deb Shepard is an advanced certified online instructor and has been with Saint Mary’s since 2016 teaching EL 622 Supervision.
Shepard is a principal in the state’s largest school district, Anoka-Hennepin District 11. Her career in educational administration spans over 20 years at the elementary and middle school levels as principal, assistant principal, and dean of students. Prior to becoming an administrator she was a teacher for ten years. Her work as a leader in education has been recognized at the local and state level. She has served as president of the Anoka-Hennepin Elementary and Secondary Principals’ Association. She is the recipient of the Minnesota Elementary Principals’ Association Leadership Achievement Award for her work as division president. Her involvement with the state association also includes serving on the School of Excellence Committee along with serving on the Educational Advisory Committee planning professional development for the state’s annual Leadership Institute. Currently, she serves on the board for the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation. She serves as a mentor to new principals, assistant principals, and administrative interns. Deb was recently appointed principal for a new school in her district. This unique opportunity expands her administrative skill set in facility construction, staffing, setting mission/vision, finance, professional development, designing learning environments, and developing programs.
