Professor McDonald currently serves as Director of Equity & Innovation in Lakeville, Minnesota. Her role includes oversight of developing organizational equity and cultural proficiency, AVID programming, curriculum and program development and professional development. During her 17 years in Lakeville, Emily has served as a teacher, department leader and curriculum coordinator. Throughout her work, she has remained committed to ensuring an inclusive environment that honors, celebrates and provides rigorous educational opportunities for underserved students.

Emily earned her doctorate degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and currently serves as an adjunct faculty member in their master’s and education specialist programs. Her expertise is research and action research, although she has taught a number of other courses for the program. She often refers to herself as a “research nerd” who loves APA, literature review writing, and research.
