James Notebaart

James is an Associate Professor at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, where he has worked for the past 15 years in two departments: Human Development and International Business. The focus of his work has been on religious studies, especially religion’s impact on culture and society as well as the role of ritual in personal and social contexts.

He is a graduate of the University of Saint Thomas School of Divinity with a master’s degree. He has done extensive work at Catholic University in Washington D.C. and the School of Architecture at the University of Minnesota. He developed partnerships with various programs of the Catholic Relief Services, a development and relief agency of the Bishops of the United States, traveling to their programs in Ethiopia, Thailand, India, and Indonesia. He taught at Saint Dominic’s National Seminary in Lusaka, Zambia for four years.
