Sam Karnis has worked within the international context of policy, security and development for over 15 years. Sam currently serves as the Deputy Program Director on a dairy development project in Ethiopia and Tanzania with the Land O’Lakes International Development Fund (IDF). Prior to his tenure with Land O’Lakes, Sam worked for USAID in Afghanistan where he served as the Development Advisor to the British military in Helmand Province overseeing agricultural, education, and health programming.
Other experience includes working in the Political Section of U.S. Embassy Tbilisi, Georgia and service in the U.S. Army National Guard with deployments to the Balkans. Sam received his B.A. in political science at St. Cloud State University and M.S. in Peace Operations from George Mason University. His current professional interests include Impact Investing and the role of the private sector in development.
