Charles has a keen interest in examining the influences of cultural diversity and cross-cultural communication on organizations and communities. His research interests include the qualitative analysis and study of the refugee/immigrant experience, the impact it has on communities, and aspects of this that can be addressed to harmonize relations. Through this passion he has worked with diversity awareness initiatives in both non-profit and corporate organizations.
After teaching at Minnesota State University, Charles and his wife began organizing a partnership between buyers and sellers around the world that eventually grew into an import and export business focused on developing localized economic opportunities for smaller cottage industries. Operating this business for over seven years while living between the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Central America, and Asia also offered Charles many opportunities to teach English and volunteer with many different schools, farms, and small businesses as part of his passion to explore the world and immerse himself in local culture.
He has a B.S. in Ethnic Studies and Business Administration and an M.S. in Ethnic and Multicultural Studies, both from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Education in Leadership program at Saint Mary’s University.
