Dr. Christa Tess Kalk holds a Ph.D. in Communication Studies from Regent University and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Communication Studies from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Her primary areas of research are intercultural communication, interpersonal communication, and conflict management.
Dr. Kalk has 14 years of teaching experience in higher education and holds tenure at another local college while she also teaches in the Saint Mary’s OL program. Prior to academia, Dr. Kalk worked in a variety of fields including time as a flight attendant. After being assaulted by a passenger while working for an airline as a flight attendant, Christa testified before Congress in 1998 to help mandate new procedures for airlines in the handling of passenger misconduct.
Dr. Kalk has conducted numerous training seminars in the private sector in areas of conflict management, nonverbal communication, effective listening, community outreach and involvement, and organizational communication audits.
