K. David Hirschey is the principal of Personnel Management, Inc. The firm provides leadership and support for strategic business planning, organizational design and performance and leadership coaching activities for emerging growth and middle market organizations in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.
David has a diverse blend of technical, organizational design, operations, and analytical expertise and over 30 years of increasing responsibility and leadership with leading manufacturing and consumer foods organizations, as well as an independent business consultant. In the past 18 years, David has consulted for over 405 organizations. Representative clients have included Accenture Consulting, Anderson Windows, Best Buy, Carlson Companies, Children's Home Society, Farmers Home Group, Hutchinson Technology, Jostens, Lutheran Social Service, Medtronic, Minnesota Mining& Manufacturing (3M), Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT), National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Target Corporation, Tennant Company, and the United States Postal Service (USPS), as well as several law firms, professional associations, municipalities, colleges, and universities.
His previous industrial experience includes both managerial and executive positions at Xerox Corporation, Frito-Lay, Inc., and General Mills, Inc. Additionally, David was the principal in the management consulting firm of Hirschey Associates, Los Gatos, California, which provided business development counsel throughout the United States. Emphasis was on assisting clients to identify opportunities, develop growth strategies, and implement interventions appropriate to their organizations. David has authored articles on negotiations, leadership and motivation, and consulting. He has given numerous public and private seminars, and has also provided testimony as both an advocate and an expert witness in litigation proceedings, where he is recognized both as a human resource and a forensic economic expert.
David received a bachelor's degree in Business and Economics and a master’s degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Minnesota. He completed additional graduate work at Cornell University. He has served on the board and as president of the Twin Cities Human Resources Association, one of the largest organizations of its kind in North America. Mr. Hirschey also contributes as an adjunct faculty instructor at several universities and colleges dealing with business, leadership, and topical courses teaching traditional and adult learners both domestically and internationally.
