Tom Shipman, PMP, is a Senior Program Manager working in the area of Engineering and Technology development. Tom brings over 30 years of project management, senior project management, program management, and senior program management experience to Saint Mary's. Tom has managed military, government, and private sector engineering, research and development, and information technology projects throughout his career.
Tom received a B.S. in Professional Aeronautics with a minor in safety and a Master of Aeronautical Science (MAS) from Embry Riddle University. Tom also received an M.S. in Project Management Degree from Saint Mary's University. He has completed corporate Senior Program Management training and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) training through George Washington University.
Tom certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP®) through the Project Management Institute in 2007. As an adjunct professor in the M.S. in Project Management program at Saint Mary's University, Tom focuses on procurement and cost management. Tom has past military air force experience managing large government projects and programs, culminating in his retirement in 2005. Following his retirement Tom was a strategic program management hire for a Fortune 100 company brought on to manage seven government contracts valued at a combined $30 million. Through an acquisition, Tom's business segment was transferred to another Fortune 50 company in 2012. Tom is currently working as a Senior Program Manager managing two research and development projects valued at $10.5 million.
