Emily Johnson, holds her Masters of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and Bachelors of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. Emily holds her Social Work License with Minnesota.
Emily has spent most of her professional career working in the Minnesota State's TANF program supporting families. For 6 years, Emily worked alongside program participants to help families identify their goals, big and small, and locate essential resources needed for self-sufficiency and survival. Emily has specialized in safety planning for survivors of domestic abuse and considers herself an advocate for social justice. Prior to teaching for Saint Mary's Emily has had the opportunity to teach in the Social Work programs at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and the College of St. Scholastica.
When Emily isn't teaching for Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, she is working as a Career Counselor for Metropolitan State University. Although this is not a transitional route for social workers, in this role Emily is able to contribute to reducing the opportunity gaps within employment and influence the social mobility of Metro State students and alumni.
