Fast-Track Your Future in Nursing
Rapid changes in technologies, regulations and polices have opened new career paths for nurses — but they also introduced new BSN qualifications for clinical and managerial positions. Arriving at a time when more than 500,000 nurses retire, and over 100,000 new positions are introduced yearly, these changes are spurring incredible job growth — with a 12% increase projected from 2018 – 20281.
In the accelerated RN to BSN program at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, you can complete your BSN in a year and earn up to 20 percent more than nurses with an RN.1 & 2 As you earn more, you'll be improving the quality of care your patients receive—that's why many hospitals exclusively hire nurses with BSN degrees.3

DR. MERRI MOODY: When we sat down to develop this program, we thought, let's get something that's really useful to the practicing nurse and useful for the nurse who wants to go on. It's designed for working adults, working nurses. We understand that nurses do shift work. They work evenings. They work nights. So we felt that an online program was just perfect for them.
CANDACE ROTERT: My name is Candace Rotert. I could not do this program if it were not online. I have four kids, and I'm able to do schoolwork while taking care of my family. I'm able to go on family outings and work full-time. And I'm still able to get my assignments done.
DR. MERRI MOODY: Why I would choose this program is that I believe that it really has the tools to make the nurse either better at what he or she is doing now, or help them advance to the next level.
The program has helped develop my nursing skills, because it's allowed me to look into different areas of nursing that I didn't look into before — the insurance aspect and cultural diversity aspect.
DR. MERRI MOODY: When I look at the curriculum and the courses, especially things like the integrative health care and the finance and the health care systems and informatics, boy, that's what I need right now as a nurse. And it's also going to really help me apply when I want to apply to advanced practice school.
I live in a very diverse community. And utilizing the skills that I've learned is really going to help me treat my patients with respect and dignity.
DR. MERRI MOODY: The other element of our program that's unique is our final capstone class actually gives the nurse an opportunity to go and observe an advanced practitioner or a nurse who does something different that they might be interested in doing in their future. So it's totally future-oriented. It's not, write a paper on this, or write a paper on that. It's go out and experience something that you might want to do in your future.
I'm going to make even more of a difference in patients' lives. I'm going to be even more responsible and just a better nurse and a better person.
Every nurse, no matter what they do, affects someone's life.
